Are you considering selling or pawning one of your TVs? Wondering how much you get for your item? Interested in the process? Need some quick cash? Here are some answers to your questions about selling, pawning or buying an asset:
Age of TV
Typically, your television needs to be newer than three (3) years old with a base. Sometimes they will accept a wall mount. Most manufacturers put a manufactured date on the back of the TV so you can determine the age.
Brand
Because of the television’s reputation of performance, technology, and reliability the brand is important in determining the value. Though there are exceptions in each brand, here is a rough order of their quality:
Excellent Values
LG
Panasonic
Samsung
Sony
Above Average Values
Vizio
Sharp
Average Values
Insignia
Toshiba
JVC
Phillips
Size
Typically the larger the screen, the higher the price you’re likely to bring in.
The pawn shop that you are talking with can give you an offer for the brand and size of the television you wish to pawn or sell. Obviously the larger the screen size and the better make of the television will bring in a higher value.
Usually the screen sizes range in:
- 26” or less
- Between 32” and 42”
- Greater than 42”
Type of technology
There are numerous types of TVs on the market now:
- LCD – Liquid Crystal Display
- LED – Light Emitting Diode
- Plasma
- OLED – Organic Light Emitting Diode
Broken TVs
It all depends on your local pawn shop. Some shops will purchase broken TVs and other will not. If you have a broken TV, find a repair technician to see if it is an easy fix.
No remote
You can’t find your remote. Again it depends on your local pawn shop. Talk with your local pawn shop and find out if they will still be willing to take in your television even though you don’t have the remote. It will probably be at a discounted rate.
